Teeth and Stuff at 5 months

Christopher has both of his bottom teeth now. We're hoping he starts sleeping better at night. I can't believe he's already 5 months old! He can roll over both directions but likes to do it mostly in the crib, in the dark, at night, when no one is watching. That little turkey! He started saying the da-duh-da-duh sounds and his cooing has turned more into "talking". He got his first cold a couple of weeks ago and has lingered longer than any one cares for. He loves watching Audrey and laughs at her antics. He takes 3 naps a day and sleeps 4-5 hours a night in two blocks of time. I will post his 5 month pictures next week!

Crayons Anyone?

Do you ever wonder what to do with all your broken crayons? Bring them to our house and we'll make new ones!
With all kinds of swirly designs and you can name it whatever color you want!
This was a toy for Audrey but Steve has had just as much fun with it, or even more!
We now have 24 newly made WHOLE crayons, and so far no new broken ones.

Christmas 2010

So, my camera decided to act up on Christmas Eve. I am very disappointed. I'm fairly convinced Audrey did something to it. (see previous post) So here are the best ones and even those aren't that wonderful.
Christopher on Christmas morning, totally passed out and oblivious to all the mayhem.
Audrey opened her new crayon maker!
And on Christmas Eve Audrey enjoyed her time at Grandma and Papa's. It was CRAZY but fun!
Christopher loved eating the paper.
Granny Jo and Pa's 82nd Christmas.
Zoey was all about the Pez dispenser.Thankfully it appears my camera has mended itself.
We let Audrey open her tool box set before bed. It's been quite a hit!
And we left Santa his milk and cookies...
Audrey and Christopher received two huge gifts this year. A tent...
and a car!
Merry Christmas from the Abbotts!

Mommy's Little Sous Chef

Audrey enjoyed helping me bake Christmas cookies.
She also loves my camera. She took this photo!

You can never have enough sprinkles!

Milestone!

Christopher cut his first tooth, just shy of 5 months! He's been working on it for a week now and it is his bottom left tooth. He's growing up so fast!

Kids Being Kids

Audrey actually semi-cooperated when I asked her to take pictures with her brother.
Granted, she was shirtless.
And didn't sit still very long.
But Christopher was so dang HAPPY!
We're pretty sure he's in the midst of teething. Drooling, biting, cranky at night. He took to the teething rings quite well.
He also discovered his hands this week.
Hey, what is this thing? And look, I can grab all on my own!
My mother never feeds me. :)

Trains Trains Everywhere!

Mom and I took Audrey back to Union Station to see their annual model train display.
She loved it of course.
And enjoyed her private train ride.
Christopher seemed to enjoy himself as well!
He might not have known what he was looking at, but he liked the movement.
Audrey was all over the place.
I was glad she was having so much fun!

Someone forgot to close the control door and Audrey discovered it. She thought she was pretty clever and then she realized the controls made the trains go faster and slower.
We let her play for a few minutes and then while she was distracted, I shut the door. :)

Audrey's First Christmas Program

Audrey's Parent Day Out at the church had a Christmas program for the 2 and 3 year olds. Each child put an ornament on the tree. As you can see, Audrey quickly put hers on and then ran back on stage.
It was maybe 15-20 minutes. I'm not sure Audrey sang a single note. She was busy jumping and being wild.

She did get into the jingle bells though.
For some reason she did not take a nap that day. And right before the show began she started to have a min-meltdown. I bribed her with a candy cane. She proceeded to eat it through the first 3 songs.
And then she enjoyed the cookies afterwards. We have it all on video. We laughed until we cried. As my mom put it, it was like herding cats.

4 1/2 months

Poor boy. I have him dressed in KU and Daddy has him wearing a Texas hat.
Pretty darn cute anyway!

Christopher is in 6 month clothes now. I just went through his drawers once again and weeded out the too small clothes.
And he's found his thumb. He uses it now to soothe himself instead of his whole fist. I have another thumb sucker! How'd that happen?! :)

Hungry Hungry Hippo

Christopher has added rice cereal to his menu.
And as expected he loves it!
He's eating 2 tablespoons once a day. About 4 times what average babies start off with!
And he's getting better at sitting in his high chair.
