Love to Bake

While on vacation a couple of weeks ago I became motivated and inspired to make a cake using home make fondant. I can't get these pics to stay in order. Grrrr. Anyway, above is the rolled out fondant. It was an easy recipe but WAY too sweet for our taste!
Here is the finished result. Yummy!

I bought a neon food coloring kit. It was cool.

Mixing and mixing and mixing the fondant!

The cakes before I doctored them up. I will try this again soon I am sure. It was fun but labor intensive.

More golfing fun

Audrey seems to pick a new stuffed animal every week to love.
My new putter

She knows exactly where we keep it and at least twice a day she practices putting with Daddy.

Look at that ball go!

She even has good form! :)

Trip to Greensburg, Kansas for 4th of July

Yes, I realize I am a month behind in my pictures. But here is our trip to Greensburg, nonetheless. This is the Kiowa County Courthouse. One of just a few buildings to survive the F-5 tornado on May 4, 2007.
A completely "green" John Deere dealership. One of the first businesses to rebuild.

We thought this was funny and sad at the same time. Their drive-thru bank was in a trailor!

The Sunchips Business Incubator on Main St. There are about 5 businesses currently running. Including a really cool stained glass shop and a massage place. You can see the grain elevator in the background. The tornado did not touch it.

Greensburg is/was known as the city with the world's largest man-dug well. It's closed now but it was pretty large to look down into.

Formally known as FEMA-ville. This is the area where residents lived in trailors, some for 2 years, until their houses were rebuilt.

A very "green" built hospital. The Kiowa County Hospital is expected to open spring 2010.

The Eco-Silo house. There are no square rooms in this house. It is supposedly the blue print to how sustainable housing should be made. They dropped a car on top of it to prove how strong it was and the car was demolished! There is a garden on top that captures a lot of the rain water run off. Pretty cool stuff.

5.4.7 Arts Center built by architecture students at KU. It is a Lied-Platinum building. Everything used was recycled material.

Local art

All of the energy used for the building comes from the 3 wind turbines to the left.

This bench was made by the Green Team, students from the high school. It was made from debris from the tornado.

The only hotel in Greensburg. We had such a fun visit. This is the kind of town Steve and I would love to retire to.

Anyone Up For Golf?

Audrey has her very own putter that she LOVES! Isn't she adorable? LPGA look out!
We are trying to teach her not to use it as a weapon...

How does this work again?

Photos, Interrupted

I have many pictures to post, however I broke our camera last week. So we got a new one and I have worked 4 out of the last 5 nights so I have not had the time upload and post. I am so sorry. Stay tuned... there are a lot of them!

Molars Molars Everywhere!

Audrey broke in all 4 of her first molars in 2 weeks! We are all tired. Here's to better nights ahead and hopefully a break from teething.

Father's Day and Adventures in Toddler-hood

4 Generations of Fathers. How cool is that?
Papa Gary, Steve, Audrey, Jackson, Papa Don, Travis, Zoey and Pa
Zoey wasn't so sure about the pool so she just sat back and watched Audrey and Jackson get in on the action.

Can you tell she loves the water?

The little pool dance!

Swimming is fun!
We've had a couple funny Audrey moments this week. We just introduced the toothbrush in the last month and are only brushing her teeth at night. Evidently I got distracted last night because when Steve got Audrey up this morning she had the toothpaste in one hand and was "brushing" her teeth with the other! I must have left them on the changing table and then put her to bed. Oops! At least she's getting the concept!
Steve has been showing Audrey how to putt this week. He hits the ball and she holds onto the club. It's pretty cute. All week she's had two golf balls and a large cup she carries them around in. Today I was sitting on the floor with a rootbeer float and before I could stop her, Audrey proceeded to put a golf ball in my cup! We laughed so hard and she just stared at us like we were crazy. Steve apologized since it might have been his fault that he taught her that. Oh well, such is life, and it is FUN!
We are going to Greensburg, Kansas for 4th of July. Grandma and Papa are watching Audrey so Steve and I have a weekend to ourselves. We wanted to check out the progress of the city since the 2007 tornado and see just what this "green" stuff is all about. Can't wait!
