Fun with Cards and Chalk

Audrey has her very own deck of cards she plays with. She was playing poker with Daddy.
She's really starting to take an interest in drawing so we got some sidewalk chalk and gave it a go.

Daddy did most of the drawing of course.

But she tried!
A bad side effect of the chalk though: dirty hands and clothes. Must give bath immediately.

Cousins Visit Deanna Rose Farmstead Together

We braved the heat and trekked to Deanna Rose once again. Jackson loved the John Deere tractors of course!
Zoey and Audrey were learning how to milk a cow.

Ride 'em cowboy!

The girls loved the cow bells.

Then we stopped and played at the park. I love this picture. Grandma holding Audrey and waiting for Zoey at the end of the slide.

Three ducks in a row.

Everyone enjoyed feeding the goats!

Summer Pool Party

We were invited to the Bowman's for a pool party this weekend. Audrey loved the water and was a regular fish.
While Jackson looked on, Audrey loved being thrown up in the air!

It was a lot of fun and we had great weather for the pool.

16 Month Grab-Bag

Now that Audrey is 17 months old I thought I would post some random 16 month pics. Here she is in the car with her balloon from Red Robin. Look at the hair!
Playing in the tub with her body paints, whale and duck.

Mommy may have helped a little.

Loves the park benches!

What a cutie in overalls!

Good morning!

Baby blue eyes

Love the pose.
Audrey seems to be saying new words every week. The newest additions in the last month or so: no (with the head shake), uh-oh (and very appropriately), hot, ow, whoa, meow and moo (even though she doesn't say kitty or cow) and her first two word phrase, all-done. All done is usually said after brushing teeth, after meals, when finished with a book and when her baby einstein video is over.

Visit to Deanna Rose Farmstead

We went to Deanna Rose Farmstead last week and had lots of fun! Audrey loved all of the animals, especially the ducks and goats. There was too much going to pose with Daddy.
She liked getting up close to the goats.

Audrey could have spent all day banging on the cow bells if we let her!

Audrey chased the goats in the petting zoo. I think she just liked being able to roam free of Mommy and Daddy's arms!

In the butterfly garden.

Longhorn

Lots of big fish. Audrey liked them too.

What's over there?
Since it is free and not too far from where we live, we plan to go a few more times before it closes in October.

Love to Bake

While on vacation a couple of weeks ago I became motivated and inspired to make a cake using home make fondant. I can't get these pics to stay in order. Grrrr. Anyway, above is the rolled out fondant. It was an easy recipe but WAY too sweet for our taste!
Here is the finished result. Yummy!

I bought a neon food coloring kit. It was cool.

Mixing and mixing and mixing the fondant!

The cakes before I doctored them up. I will try this again soon I am sure. It was fun but labor intensive.

More golfing fun

Audrey seems to pick a new stuffed animal every week to love.
My new putter

She knows exactly where we keep it and at least twice a day she practices putting with Daddy.

Look at that ball go!

She even has good form! :)

Trip to Greensburg, Kansas for 4th of July

Yes, I realize I am a month behind in my pictures. But here is our trip to Greensburg, nonetheless. This is the Kiowa County Courthouse. One of just a few buildings to survive the F-5 tornado on May 4, 2007.
A completely "green" John Deere dealership. One of the first businesses to rebuild.

We thought this was funny and sad at the same time. Their drive-thru bank was in a trailor!

The Sunchips Business Incubator on Main St. There are about 5 businesses currently running. Including a really cool stained glass shop and a massage place. You can see the grain elevator in the background. The tornado did not touch it.

Greensburg is/was known as the city with the world's largest man-dug well. It's closed now but it was pretty large to look down into.

Formally known as FEMA-ville. This is the area where residents lived in trailors, some for 2 years, until their houses were rebuilt.

A very "green" built hospital. The Kiowa County Hospital is expected to open spring 2010.

The Eco-Silo house. There are no square rooms in this house. It is supposedly the blue print to how sustainable housing should be made. They dropped a car on top of it to prove how strong it was and the car was demolished! There is a garden on top that captures a lot of the rain water run off. Pretty cool stuff.

5.4.7 Arts Center built by architecture students at KU. It is a Lied-Platinum building. Everything used was recycled material.

Local art

All of the energy used for the building comes from the 3 wind turbines to the left.

This bench was made by the Green Team, students from the high school. It was made from debris from the tornado.

The only hotel in Greensburg. We had such a fun visit. This is the kind of town Steve and I would love to retire to.
